- Imperial eagles are large birds of prey that are distributed throughout southeastern Europe and western and central Asia. Most imperial eagles migrate to northeaster Africa and Asia in the winter. At the moment the imperial eagle is one of the most threatened species on the International Union for Nature Conservation (IUCN)'s red list.

What does an Imperial Eagle look like?
Adult imperial eagles have a dark brown, almost black feathered body. The body feathers of young imperial eagles are yellowish brown. The feather on the head and upper parts are reddish brown. The tail feathers are yellowish-grey with a little dark grown. The legs are yellow and the beak is grey with some black at the tip. -
Where does the Imperial Eagle live?
Imperial Eagles are distributed throughout south Eastern Europe as well as western and central Asia. In the winter the imperial eagles migrate to India, China and Africa. Since the loss of habitat and hunters the imperial eagle is forced to higher elevations. They can now be found in forests up to 1000 meters as well as steppe and agricultural areas with large trees. -
What does an Imperial Eagle eat?
Imperial eagles prey on small and medium mammals that are active during the day. Such as hare, hamsters, susliks, pheasants. They also feed on injured or dead bodies of small animals. Imperial eagles usually hunt alone. They have exceptional eyesight to spot little mammals whilst gliding through the air. -
